Trusts and Foundations, managed by Equity Trustees support women and girls on International Women's Day
Equity Trustees, a leading source of philanthropic funds to the For-Purpose sector with more than $120 million in philanthropic granting for the 2024 financial year, highlighted programs focussing on empowering women and girls.
Emily Cormack, National Manager, Social Impact said International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, will provide an opportunity to celebrate progress in support of empowering and amplifying the voices, expertise and solutions from women and girls.
“It’s wonderful to recognise achievements so far but there’s more to do. This year’s IWD theme of ‘March Forward’ reflects that we need the persistence to sustain programs over time if we hope to achieve real shifts that better everyone’s situations and prospects,” Ms Cormack said.
In 2024 Equity Trustees’ generous philanthropic clients directed $1.3 million to programs targeting the unique needs of women and girls, including:
- A grant from The Felton Bequest in support of The Nest, a housing project providing accommodation for young mothers and their children by Women’s Property Initiatives.
- A grant to Women’s Environmental Leadership Australia, to establish and lead a network of stakeholders who will influence Australian policy makers and investors to adopt climate policies and solutions that incorporate women’s experiences and leadership.
- A grant to The Placement Circle by WomenCAN Australia, an economic development and education project supporting women facing financial disadvantage aged between 25 and 65.
“In addition to these impactful programs, Equity Trustees supports philanthropists with structured approaches to giving, and with smaller single-year grants. Every little bit counts when it comes to empowering women and girls, but by offering sustained support over time, we can achieve even better outcomes for all,” Ms Cormack concluded.
