It was with much sadness that Equity Trustees’ Board of Directors and employees learned of the passing of Dr Richard Searby, AO, QC, on
8 August 2018.

We are privileged to count Richard as a former Board member who served as Director for 25 years and Chairman from 1980 to 2000, and we have been honoured that our Company was a part of his career.

Richard had an illustrious career at the Bar after returning from Oxford University where he studied the classics and was then admitted to the
Inner Temple.

He returned to Australia in 1956, and after a stint as an Associate to Sir Owen Dixon, Chief Justice of Australia, went to the bar and was awarded silk in 1971.

Richard’s achievements and awards were numerous. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his children, family and friends at this sad time.
