On Thursday 2 May 2024, the Australian and New Zealand National Council for Fire and Emergency Services (AFAC), held the tenth annual National Memorial Service at the National Emergency Services Memorial, located on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra on Ngunnawal Country.

Families, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their respects and commemorate fire and emergency service personnel who died in the line of duty, protecting their communities.

A Memorial Medallion was presented to the families of those commemorated during the service by the Governor General His Excellency David Hurley AC DSC (Rtd) and AFAC President Commissioner Darren Klemm AFSM.

Equity Trustees was invited to attend the memorial service and to lay a wreath in honour of the families receiving support from the Australian Volunteers Support Trust (AVST).
