Improving the lives of older people is the goal of the Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration (MARC) - an innovative consortium of partners from research, university, health services, community, government, advocacy and industry sectors.

MARC is seeking to find practical solutions to issues of key concern to older people, including:

  • Alzheimer’s Disease and other Dementias
  • End of Life and Palliative Care
  • Falls
  • Healthy Ageing.

By working together, the MARC partners will improve the lives of older people by enabling rapid translation of research evidence into policy and practice.  Outcomes from MARC projects will be used to achieve systemic change for older people living in community, hospital and residential settings.

MARC has been operating for 12 months.  As the lead partner for MARC, NARI will receive a one-year grant of $220,000.  This funding is intended to assist the collaboration ‘rapidly mature’ and build its overall capacity in order to more quickly achieve its goals.
