Spencer Gibson lived with a quiet dignity, humane insight, and sparky dry humour. He believed everyone deserved to find their voice, be heard, included, and valued. He wanted people to lead fulfilling, healthy and creative lives, unconstrained by their circumstances..

Established in his memory, the Spencer Gibson Foundation reflects Spencer’s concern for people who have been marginalised or disadvantaged. It keeps alive his empathy for people facing illness or needing special support.

The Foundation was established by his family in 2015. Eligible charities can apply for funding via an expression of interest process aligned with the Foundation’s funding strategy.

How granting decisions are made

The Foundation supports:

• Advancing research and care for people living with mental health issues, cancer, heart disease or epilepsy
• Access to community life, to spur individual growth through education, the arts and creative expression, and
• Assisting people beyond crisis accommodation and into stable long-term housing.

The Foundation considers annual and multi-year applications for funding up to $50,000 from February to early May via SmartyGrants.
