The Australian Philanthropic community farewelled a much loved member last month.

Born in Casula, in the south west of Sydney, Bob was a leading Australian businessman, and along with his brother Jack, was best known for building the Ingham's company into the largest producer of chickens and turkeys in Australia.  He also co-founded Bloodstock - a leading horse racing and breeding company.

His family said: "His hard work, commitment and philosophy of 'doing the right things and doing things right' underpinned everything he did."

This philosophy was foundational to his philanthropy:

“My vision was to see the creation of a multi-purpose medical research facility at Liverpool. A place that draws together our best researchers, medical professionals and thought leaders. A place where people with foresight, insight and innovation could join forces to forge new inroads to potential cures and treatments that would resonate and benefit not only local communities here in south west Sydney, where we have such a diverse population, but Australia and the world.”

Bob's philanthropic vision for an independent specialist centre for health and medical research in Liverpool was realised in 2012, when the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research was opened.

Bob Ingham AO is survived by children Lyn, Debbie, Robby, and John, as well as 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Equity Trustees extends our condolences to the Ingham family and the team at Ingham Institute of Applied Medical Research.
