Information on charitable trusts

As a Statutory Trustee Company, Equity Trustees Limited acts as the sole or co-trustee for over 174 charitable trusts, settlements and foundations ("trusts") with assets in excess of $200 million.

These trusts have been established predominately by Wills, although there are a growing number of 'living' charitable trusts set up in the lifetime of an individual or by a company.

The investment income arising from the trust is distributed in accordance with the terms of the trust. EQT manages the investment funds held by the trust.

Charitable trusts managed by EQT are either:

non-discretionary -

whereby the beneficiaries and proportions of income arising from the trust are specified

or

discretionary -

whereby the trustee, under the terms of trust, has discretion over the beneficiaries or the proportions of income for distribution.
