A strong society is dependent on an effective and resilient for-purpose sector; a social sector that’s healthy will drive better outcomes for our community. In the complex area of social change, no single funder or service provider can claim to create impact on their own. Key to social change is cross-collaboration, bringing together expertise and resources to unlock the full potential of our social sector.

We are proud to be facilitators of collaboration. In May 2019, Equity Trustees was the Gold Sponsor of Generosity Forum 2019. Hosted in Sydney this year, the conference once again brought together leaders and influencers to share insights around philanthropy and impact in the for-purpose sector. At the Forum, Grant Hooper, Equity Trustees’ Head of Granting, shared the stage with one of our Active Philanthropists, Dr Nadia Badawi AM, as well as Save the Children’s Mat Tinkler, to discuss capacity-building and the vital role that philanthropy plays in funding the health of the sector.

The evening prior to the conference, we invited 100 members of the for-purpose sector – predominantly CEOs and fundraising specialists – to an event called ‘Convening Collaboration’. It was an opportunity for social sector colleagues to network with like-minded social change makers and hear more about the highlights from our inaugural Philanthropy Giving Review 2018.

Collaboration takes work, but valuable opportunities exist for the for-purpose sector to network with others doing similar purpose-led work (without the pressure of a funding deadline) to share, develop and potentially co-design solutions to support beneficiaries.
