Rob Guest info

Established in 2009 following the sudden death of one of Australia’s finest musical theatre performers, the Rob Guest Endowment provides financial assistance and industry support to the next generation of music theatre performers, creators and musicians.

Chris Hamilton, from the Friends of Rob Guest Endowment (FORGE), said “Musical theatre was Rob’s life and when he received his OBE in 1994, he acknowledged the support he received from the industry. He’d be so pleased to see an award in his name building the next generation of music theatre artists”.

The Endowment has grown over the years; originally recognising an artist, more than $100,000 has been given across three awards categories.

  • The Rob Guest Endowment Award helps an artist in music theatre fund tuition and experience needed to help them become a leading performer in their field
  • The Rob Guest Endowment Technical Award helps a current member od a technical department, such as stage management, mechanists fly-men, automation, sound, lighting, wigs and wardrobe, to fund the tuition and experience needed to help them become a leader in their field.
  • The Rob Guest Endowment Award Musician Award helps a current musician in the theatre genre fund the tuition and experience needed to help them become a leading artist in their field.

After a demanding audition process, six finalists will be chosen to compete in the final round, having to showcase their singing, dancing and acting ability.

Equity Trustees is the trustee of the Rob Guest Endowment. As a sub-fund of the Equity Trustees Charitable Foundation, we work with the endowment to ensure funds are prudently managed and distributed in accordance with the objectives of the endowment.
